Your Ford vehicle may be equipped with SYNC 4 with enhanced voice recognition and connected navigation, the latest technology to help make your travels a bit easier and more convenient. The updated navigation system is cloud connected, which allows for up-to-date traffic and road conditions. Plus improved conversational voice recognition allows for smarter searches.

To find out if your vehicle is equipped with connected navigation, go to ford.com/connectedservices to sign into your Ford owner account. Then select Connected Services. The complimentary 90 day connected navigation trial begins on your vehicle's warranty start date. To use it, you'll need to download the FordPass app and activate the FordPass Connect modem.

When your 90 day trial is about to end, you'll receive an email notification. When the trial period ends you may still see a map on your screen, but navigation services will not be available without a subscription.

To purchase the service, choose renew. Then next, then enter your payment information, agree to the terms and conditions, and choose confirm purchase. You'll see an order confirmation message and receive an email confirmation as well. Now, all the relevant information you need can be discovered through enhanced voice recognition and your vehicle's SYNC touchscreen.

To use enhanced voice recognition, you can press the voice activation button on your steering wheel. Or better yet, you can use a wake word to get the system's attention. To set that up, go to settings, touch voice control. Then touch listen for wake word. Press preferred wake word and choose your favorite phrase. So now when you need something, just start with, "Okay, Ford." You can ask for directions or search for points of interest, POI, like, "Okay, Ford, find Italian restaurants on my route." And Connected Navigation provides you with even more POI data, like hours of operation, and even reviews. When available, you can add your home and work addresses and then say, "Okay, Ford, take me to work." To receive route guidance around traffic, construction and hazards, you can say, "Okay, Ford, find the nearest gas station," and see turn by turn directions to get there. And routes are automatically saved, which means you can keep moving even when data coverage isn't great.
