10 Celebrities Who Love Their Fords
Celebrities are just like the rest of us – they love their cars.
The only difference? They have more options in their garages.
We can’t blame them. If we were Toby Keith, we’d also like to decide whenever we go to the grocery store whether to take our Ford Raptor or Mighty Tonka F-750. Actually, we might get some strange looks rolling up to Trader Joe’s in a bright yellow dump truck …
Read up on Mullinax Ford’s favorite celebrity car owners. If our list is Ford-centric, it’s not because we’re biased. It’s because even John Cena understands that Fords are cool.
Paul McCartney
The former Beatle has no need for a yellow submarine, considering his car collection includes Fords ranging from his first-bought car — a quirky blue 1962 Ford Consul Classic — to a 1989 Ford Bronco. To be fair, the submarine might do a better job reaching the Octopus’ Garden than the Bronco.
Barack Obama
As a young senator running for presidency, Obama’s campaign-mobile of choice was a Ford Escape Hybrid crossover SUV (an on-brand selection for his eco-conscious platform). That all changed when he debuted his First Car, a custom Cadillac with five-inch bulletproof gas and a tear gas cannon, on the way to his presidential inauguration the following year. Just a little less conspicuous than the Ford.
George W Bush
Putting Bush and Obama next to each other on this list: a controversial move, but we’re sticking with it. Although Bush drove his own custom Cadillac during his presidency (with bulletproof glass and, more importantly, a 10-disc CD changer), these days he cruises Texas in a Ford 5-150 King Ranch. Dare we call it an upgrade?
John Cena
Like the wrestler himself, Cena’s car collection is mostly muscle. Described as “absolute madness” by Hot Wheels, Cena’s collection includes classics from a ‘70 Buick to a 2006 Ford GT, but our favorite is his rare 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen Parnelli Jones Limited Edition (try saying that five times fast).
Lady Gaga
What do you do when you’re a 37-year-old with 13 Grammys and a multi-million dollar net worth? If you’re Lady Gaga, you invest in a car collection. Gaga’s first-gen Ford SVT lightning is one of her crown jewels. The cherry-red performance pickup was only produced from 1993 to 1995, so it’s almost as rare as the material of Gaga’s iconic 2010 meat dress. Yes, she wore a dress made out of meat. Google it if you don’t believe us.
Tim Allen
If you haven’t seen the video of Jay Leno driving Tim Allen’s 1986 Ford RS200, we suggest you drop everything and do so immediately. Not only can you watch the two car enthusiasts insult each other (Leno claims the 240-horsepower sports car “never caught on in America, just like [Allen]”), but you can also hear Leno talk about the other crown jewels of his collection — like his ’46 Convertible and ’33 Roadster.
Robert Downey Jr
Tony Stark -- sorry, we meant RDJ -- is rarely seen in the same car twice. His collection is as vast as it is varied, so while you might see him cruising Malibu in his ‘66 Buick Riviera one day, don’t be surprised if you see him in his ‘70 Mustang 302 Boss the next.
John Goodman
It’s no surprise the all-American actor owns an all-American collection. Although the Big Lebowski star currently drives a good old navy blue ’97 Ford F-150 — bought when the pickup was the most selling Ford vehicle of all time — Goodman and Fords go way back. The first car he ever drove was the ‘61 Ford Fairlane his mom bought him when he started community college.
Jay Leno
The private collection to make all other private collections look positively nanoscopic. Leno stashes not one, not two, but 180 cars in Burbank, California’s, Big Dog Garage — including 16 Fords. Not many people can say their garage holds 92 years of Ford history, but Leno’s 1925 Ford Model T and 2017 Ford GT check that box nicely together.
Toby Keith
We couldn’t not include the country star in this list. After all, he wrote the song Ford Truck Man for a Ford commercial and is the proud owner of a modified Ford Raptor, multiple F-150s and even a Mighty Tonka F-750. “I’m a Ford truck man/That’s all I drive/I ain’t got no boundaries/I don’t compromise.” Well said, Keith.
This may have been an all-star Ford-owning roster, but you don’t need to win multiple Grammys, earn a WWE championship or even be U.S. president to rock a Ford. Just stop by Mullinax and our friendly team will help you get behind the wheel of your new favorite ride.
