The BMW X2 offers just a single engine choice: A 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. All that torque makes the X2 feel faster than those power numbers might suggest, with lots of grunt in the midrange. The 8-speed automatic transmission, the only one available on the X2, cracks off shifts in the blink of an eye, sending power to all four wheels. The BMW X2 comes in two basic flavors, each available in a couple of "tiers" and each with their own option packages.

The upper tier in the X2 lineup is called "M Sport X." It's immediately recognizable from the outside due to the bigger wheels, the unique bumper and the side skirts. The M Sport X uses unique frozen grey trim on the exterior and there is a very nice looking hexagonal theme that subtly carries over on the interior. Notable additions to the M Sport X include 19" wheels, power folding mirrors, a built in garage door opener, auto-dimming mirrors, unique interior trim and SiriusXM satellite radio.

Option packages on the X2 are plentiful and include a Premium Package with heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a heads up display and a navigation system. The Dynamic handling package on the other hand, offers computer control dampeners and sportier steering. A driving assistance package includes automatic high beams, speed limit info, a lane departure warning system and a forward collision warning system.

The standard upholstery is covered in BMW's Sensatac leatherette, however true Dakota leather is an option as is a large panoramic moonroof.
