The Chevrolet Express Passenger Van comes in 2500 Series and heavy-duty 3500 models. Wheelbase options come in regular (135-inch) and extended (155-inch) sizes. Seating accommodations are available for eight, 12 or 15 people. Towing is also a strength for the Express Van models, with trailer ratings ranging up to 7,400 pounds.
Two different engines are offered for the 2023 Express vans. The base engine is a 4.3L V6 that makes 276 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The optional upgrade is a 6.6L V8 making 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft or torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Express has true body-on-frame truck construction, with a ladder-type frame plus tubular cross members for better torsional stiffness and tapered frame rails for safety. The van rides on an independent front suspension and rear leaf-spring suspension, with a stabilizer bar in front and a locking rear differential available on all models. In all Express vans, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with dynamic rear proportioning can adapt to loads to optimize braking for secure stops. GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control also helps provide safety and prevent skids in sudden maneuvers, while all models include driver and front passenger air bags. Lane departure warning helps drivers maintain their place going down the road, while forward collision alert helps drivers avoid crashing into a vehicle in front of it.
Both of the Express 2500 and 3500 grades are offered in LS and LT models. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, auxiliary power outlets, a driver information center, 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, and an AM/FM radio. LT models step up to rear air conditioning, a rear auxiliary heater, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, cruise control, remote keyless entry and power windows.
3500 models include various other upgrades, such as a higher-capacity battery and alternator, as well as a heavy-duty transmission with external oil cooler.
Other optional equipment includes power-adjustable heated mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel, outside temperature display, deluxe console, remote start, electric rear-window defogger, molded assist steps or a chrome grill.
Optional safety features include Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward Collision Alert and Rear Park Assist. Popular optional packages include a Safety package, Enhanced Convenience Package, Driver Convenience Package, Chrome Appearance Package and Cold Climate Package.

For 2023, Chevrolet Express drops the diesel engine but otherwise carries over with minimal changes.
In a market that's evolving toward "world" models and lighter builds, the Chevrolet Express vans keep their body-on-frame design oriented for the U.S. market, with better towing capacity than most of the competition. Those interested in long-distance towing or fleet use may want to jump straight to the Duramax diesel version, which allows a GVWR of 9,600 pounds and a tow rating of 7,400 pounds.
