Model Overview
The all-wheel drive BMW X1 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission producing 241 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to turbocharging and a relatively light vehicle, fuel economy is respectable for the segment, with an EPA estimate of 28 combined mpg. The new M35i is powered by the same 2.0L engine but tuned to produce 312 horsepower.

The BMW X1 is offered in two well-equipped trims though there are still plenty of options and packages available to further enhance the vehicle. Highlights on the standard equipment list include power front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise control functions, a 7-speaker stereo, electronically adjustable heated exterior mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, cruise control, 18-inch wheels and tires, real-time traffic display, a 10.7-inch touchscreen, fog lamps, an automatic tailgate, Bluetooth, and an alarm.

The M35i adds sport bucket front seats, a sport steering wheel, a 12-speaker sound system, 19-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, a quasi-dual exhaust, and a sport suspension.
